Connecting a Site

On this page

Connecting a WordPress, Drupal or PrestaShop site starts on the site: the plugin asks your LATW
account for access, you approve it, and the plugin and LATW Cloud exchange a secret that signs every
request between them from then on. There is no key to copy and nothing to paste.

A Webflow site has no plugin: you paste a site token generated in Webflow into the panel instead.
Connecting Webflow covers it in full.

#Before you start

  • A LATW plugin that connects to LATW Cloud, in its latest version — see Getting Started with
    LATW Cloud
for which one fits your site.
  • A site reachable from the internet. LATW Cloud calls your site, so localhost, a local
staging copy or a password-protected staging site cannot be connected.
  • A free site slot on your plan. Pay as you go and Solo allow one site, Startup five, Agency
    thirty. See Plans.

#Connecting

  1. In WordPress, open the engine setting of your plugin:

    • LATW AI Translation for WPML: AI Translator → Settings → General → Engine
    • LATW AI Translation for Polylang: AI Translation → Settings → General → Engine
    • LATW Multilingual: LATW Multilingual → Settings → AI

In Drupal, open Translation → Providers → LATW Cloud instead. In PrestaShop, open
International → LATW Cloud — Connecting PrestaShop covers the store in full. For Webflow,
    see Connecting Webflow.

  2. Choose LATW Cloud and press Connect with LATW.

  3. A window opens on app.latw.ai. Sign in if you are asked to. The window
shows the site, the plugin and the account you are signed in as — use Switch account if it
    is the wrong one.

  4. The first time you connect a site, tick I accept the Data Processing Agreement.

  5. Press Authorize.

The window then finishes the connection in WordPress and checks that LATW Cloud can reach your
site. When it shows Connected, it closes itself.

You can also start from the panel: Sites → Add site shows the same steps and waits for the new
site to appear.

#If LATW Cloud cannot reach your site

The window says We can’t reach your site and lists the usual causes. The site is saved
anyway — fix the cause, then press Try again, or come back later and press Test connection
in the site’s Settings tab. Until that check passes, the site shows as Unreachable and its
jobs wait.

Site Unreachable walks through the causes one by one.

#What LATW Cloud receives

  • When you connect: the site address, its languages, the plugin and its version, and the email
address of the administrator who connected it. The plugin’s website description is copied too,
as a starting point for the site’s settings.
  • When you translate: LATW Cloud is told which items and languages to translate, reads their
text from your site and writes the translations back. To show your content in the panel, it also
reads titles, translation statuses and word counts.
  • The AI provider of the model chosen for the site receives the text to translate.

LATW Cloud runs in the EU. The text of your content is deleted 7 days after the job finishes;
costs and job details are kept. Every request between LATW Cloud and your site is signed with a
secret only the two of them know, and the plugin rejects requests that are not.

#One site, one plugin

Each LATW plugin connects on its own. If the same domain runs two LATW plugins and you connect
both, they are two sites in LATW Cloud, each with its own settings, and each counts towards your
plan’s limit.

Connecting the same plugin on the same domain again — after a lost connection, for example —
does not create a second site. It replaces the old secret, and the site keeps the settings you made
in the panel.

After changing the site’s address — a new domain, adding or removing www, moving from
http to https — connect it again.

#What changes in WordPress while connected

LATW Cloud becomes the plugin’s only engine. To use another one, disconnect first.

  • The plugin’s fields for the model, the API key, the prompt, the glossary, the website description,
the target languages and the budget are locked and link to the site’s settings in LATW Cloud.
Your own values in the plugin are kept and come back when you disconnect.
  • Costs are shown in LATW Cloud, not in the plugin.
  • Automatic translation on save (PRO) is switched off, and so is the plugin’s MCP server.
  • What gets translated is still decided by the plugin and your multilingual plugin’s settings, as
    before.

#Connection status

Status What it means
Connected LATW Cloud can reach the site and jobs run.
Unreachable The last request did not get through, or the site has not answered since it was connected. Jobs wait and are retried automatically.
Update required The plugin on the site is too old for LATW Cloud. Update it; jobs wait until then.
Paused The site is above your plan’s site limit, for example after a downgrade. See Plans.
Disconnected The site was disconnected. It stays in the list with its history.

#Rotating the secret

Settings → Connection → Rotate secret sends the plugin a new secret and revokes the old one.
Do it if you think someone has copied the site’s database. The site must be reachable at that
moment.

#Disconnecting

Either press Disconnect in the plugin, or open the site’s Settings tab in the panel and use
Disconnect site at the bottom.

  • Translations already made stay on your site.
  • The plugin goes back to the engine it used before the site was connected.
  • A site with active jobs cannot be disconnected from the panel — cancel the jobs or wait until
    they finish.
  • The site stays in Sites as disconnected, with its jobs and costs. Its settings are read-only
and its Content tab is greyed out. To connect it again, press Connect with LATW in WordPress.
