Connecting PrestaShop
On this page
A PrestaShop store connects to LATW Cloud with the free module LATW Cloud (AI Translation).
The module only connects the store: the AI model, the prompt, the glossary, the budget and the
target languages are set in the panel, and you order translations there, in the site’s
Content tab. It works with PrestaShop 1.7.8, 8 and 9.
#What gets translated
| In the back office | What LATW Cloud translates |
|---|---|
| Catalog → Products | Name, summary, description, SEO title and description, stock labels |
| Catalog → Categories | Name, descriptions, SEO title and description |
| Catalog → Brands & Suppliers | Descriptions and SEO texts (the names stay as they are) |
| Catalog → Attributes & Features | Attribute and feature names, their values |
| Design → Pages | Page title, content, SEO texts |
| Shop Parameters → Traffic & SEO | Page titles and meta descriptions of the store’s pages |
| Shipping → Carriers | Transit time shown at checkout |
| Shop Parameters → Order Settings → Statuses | Order status names |
| International → Translations | The store front’s interface strings: theme, modules and e-mails |
The source is the store’s default language. A translation is written into its own language only:
prices, stock, a product’s status and the other languages are never changed. Friendly URLs are
made from the translated names, so a German product gets a German address.
Not translated: content built with page builders, and texts that modules keep in their own
settings (banners, custom text blocks, menus). Interface strings of the back office are not
listed: PrestaShop’s language packs translate them.
#Before you start
- Friendly URLs turned on — Shop Parameters → Traffic & SEO → Friendly URL. LATW Cloud
reaches the store at an address of the module that needs them. - A store reachable from the internet, at its final address. LATW Cloud does not follow
redirects, so connect it at the address customers see (https, with or withoutwww). - A free site slot on your plan. See Plans.
#Install the module
The module is not on PrestaShop Addons: you download it from your LATW account. It is free.
- In the panel, open Sites and, under Integrations, press Get PrestaShop module on the
PrestaShop card (it is also in Add site). The page shows the latest version, when it was
released and what the module needs. Press Download to get the zip file. - In the back office go to Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module and choose the file.
- The module appears under International → LATW Cloud.
The same page lists every earlier version with its changelog, under All versions, in case you
need to go back to one.
#Update the module
PrestaShop does not update the module by itself, because it does not come from Addons. Two places
tell you when a new version is out:
- International → LATW Cloud shows a notice with the new version and a link to download it,
once the store is connected. The module checks at most twice a day, only while you have that
screen open. - In the panel, the store shows Update next to its module version in Sites, and
Update to with the new version at the top of the site’s page.
To update, download the new zip and upload it in Modules → Module Manager → Upload a module,
the same way you installed it. PrestaShop replaces the module in place: the store stays connected
and keeps its settings, and nothing has to be connected again.
When a version is too old for LATW Cloud to work with, the site’s page says so and jobs wait until
you update it.
#Connect
- Go to International → LATW Cloud and press Connect with LATW.
- A window opens on app.latw.ai. Sign in if you are asked to, check the
store and the account, tick I accept the Data Processing Agreement the first time, and press
Authorize. - The module finishes the connection and LATW Cloud checks that it can reach the store. When the
page shows Connected, the store is in Sites in the panel.
Nothing is sent to LATW Cloud before you press Connect with LATW. Connecting sends the store’s
address, its languages, its name and home page description, and your e-mail address.
Multistore. Each shop is its own site in LATW Cloud, with its own slot, languages and
settings. Choose the shop in the multistore menu at the top of the back office, then connect it.
#How languages and states work
LATW Cloud shows a store’s languages by their full codes, e.g. de-de for German or pt-br for
Portuguese (Brazil). Choose the target languages in the site’s Settings tab.
PrestaShop does not record whether something is translated, so LATW Cloud works it out:
- Missing — every field in that language is empty or still the same as in the default
language (PrestaShop copies the default language into all languages when you create a product). - Outdated — LATW Cloud translated it, and the text in the default language changed since.
- Translated — LATW Cloud translated it from the current text, or the fields were translated
some other way.
A product whose name is really the same in every language (a brand, a model number) shows as
missing until LATW Cloud translates it once.
#If something does not work
- The page says Friendly URLs are off — turn them on as described above.
- LATW Cloud cannot reach the store — a firewall (Cloudflare, ModSecurity) or a security module
blocks it. AllowPOSTrequests to/latw/v1/cloud/. See Site Unreachable. - “Connect again” — the store’s secret can no longer be read, usually after the store was
copied to another server with a new_COOKIE_KEY_. Press Connect with LATW; the site keeps
its settings in the panel. - A translation was refused — the job shows the reason, e.g. a translated name longer than
PrestaShop allows, or HTML your store does not accept (iframes when they are turned off in
Shop Parameters → General).
To stop, press Disconnect on International → LATW Cloud. Translations already written stay
in the store.
